In 2009 an American gent, Gary TenPas, sent me several of his own designed  machined aluminium heads to test. One of these included a teetering type head as on full sized autogyros, there was nothing of this size around at the time to point me in the right direction.

So I decided to enlarge my RPG design 1.5 times to accomodate Gary's teetering head and called it the TEMPEST. Powered by an Eflight 60 swinginging a 15x8" prop on a 6000mah 6s pack and a  HV Turningy 100A esc.

Trials started with a 3 bladed rotor and it flew well so I flew it like this for a few months whilst I got used to its size.

The courage was plucked up to test the head out swinging 100" blades and it flew really well, it is still gets an airing now again 5 years later.

Unfortunately Gary passed away suddenly at the end of 2013 but his heads will be flown for some years to come!

My most memorable moment with the Tempest was flying it infront of Wing Commander Ken Wallis, he enjoyed it but commented on 'electric power' saying it would be better with an IC engine fitted! He returned the favour and demonstrated one of his full size after!
